Ilija Aščić lives in Zagreb, Croatia and writes short stories. His fiction has been featured in a number of literary magazines in Croatia, Montenegro, and Serbia as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country where he was born in the town of Jajce in 1980. In addition to appearing in literary magazines, his work has been published by leading newspapers, which has won him several literary awards. How I Turned Evil (Kako sam postao zao), his first short-story collection, was released in 2017 to widespread critical acclaim. His debut novel, Loss (Gubitak), is scheduled for publication in 2019. He supplements his literary work with photography and holds a master’s degree in journalism.
