Tomica Šćavina was born in Vodice, Croatia in 1975. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb and then continued her education in the field of psychotherapy. Tomica lives in Zagreb and runs the workshop "S one strane pisanja" (Beyond Writing) at the CeKaPe (Center for Creative Writing) in Zagreb. The course covers writing and personal development, writer's blocks, and the psychology of creativity. She also periodically gives lectures about the psychology of creativity at the University of Applied Sciences-Vern in Zagreb.
Her first novel Brod za Lajku (Ship for Laika) was a finalist for the Croatian VBZ literary award. Tomica received two Croatian literary prizes, Sfera and Artefakt, for her third novel Return of the Genius, which is currently being translated to Dutch and it will be published in Netherlands by the publishing house Klin in 2016.
